ll Movimento Europeo Italia ha inviato ai membri del Parlamento Europeo una lettera per esprimere il proprio disappunto sulla Risoluzione adottata dal Parlamento Europeo lo scorso 19 settembre sull'importanza della memoria europea per il futuro dell'Europa e sull'80° anniversario dell'inizio della Seconda Guerra Mondiale.

Con l'occasione, il Movimento europeo ha inviato ai deputati europei una copia del Manifesto di Ventotene, scritto da Altiero Spinelli e Ernesto Rossi nel 1941, invitandoli a contribuire alla sua diffusione in tutte le scuole europee.

Riportiamo qui di seguito il testo della lettera:

Dear MEPs,

We have acknowledged with great disappointment the text of the common resolution adopted by the European Parliament last week on the memory of European history related to the Second World War.

It contains serious historical inaccuracies particularly on the cause of the war and suggests specific actions which serve no educational purpose for the European citizens and mainly for the young generations.

We suggest the reading of the “Draft of a Manifesto for a united and free Europe”, written by three antifascists (Altiero Spinelli, Ernesto Rossi and Eugenio Colorni), exiled in the Island of Ventotene during the war.

This Manifesto offers to Europeans a clear vision of the causes which have brought to the Second World War and a non-ideological and federal solution for the unification of the Continent.

We think that this Manifesto could serve as an important educational purpose to the young generations and we suggest that the EP will propose to disseminate it in all the European schools. This text exists in the 24 European languages.
